The Power of Manifesting💫 How I Manifested My First Home Purchase

Feeling called to write today. To manifest some big things✨

What is mostly on my heart today is the power of manifesting and how this has worked in my life, specifically in the last year.

Manifesting what you want is a straight up superpower. The universe is always listening.

It’s not just writing down a bunch of things and hoping they happen. It’s truly believing you’re worth receiving what is meant for you, putting energy out there for it, and claiming them as if you’ve already achieved them.

This is incredibly powerful and I hope this post speaks to anyone who is in the process of claiming big bets for 2021.

______

The TLDR; is write down your goals right freakin now. Well after you read my post please, but write them down! Write out what you want for yourself for the next year, the next 5 years, the next 10, who you want to be, the type of people you want in your life, what you want to achieve. Write them all down. Big and small. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed at the end of 2021 if you didn’t meet your every single goal you wrote down, because you’ll be more proud that you dreamt big and let yourself grow over the course of the year with those in mind. I know it’s scary but you’re worth the investment. I know it, even if you don’t know it YET. But stick around for the rest of my post where I share how manifesting my #1 goal of 2020 became a reality. And that you can too.

_______

Not many people know what I’m about to tell you, but I feel compelled to share this out. I think it might help someone else imagine big things for themselves or dream big goals that could change their life.

Well, anyways, here we go.

So December of last year (2019), I was reading Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis. Really great book btw 🙂 I don’t want to spoil it but there’s an exercise towards the end of the book where she has you write a letter to yourself 10 years in the future. Basically you want to write out what the best version of yourself looks like 10 years from that point and get super detailed (what’s the lifestyle you’re living, what type of person are you, what do you have, what you’re doing, etc). After that, you write out 10 dreams that would help get you to the best version of yourself 10 years from then. Then you write out 1 goal that you’re going to focus on for the coming year that would help get you to one of those 10 dreams. That’s at least how I remember it – it was a year ago and 2020 has been a rollercoaster, so forgive me.

So in short, 1) what’s the best version of yourself 10 years from now, 2) 10 dreams and 3) 1 goal.

Really awesome manifesting exercise – highly recommend taking the time to do it!

So I did exactly that on Christmas of 2019. No exact reason for that day, that was just when I was reading the part in the book lol.

Some background, I knew about the power of manifestation a couple years prior to reading this book so it was really easy for me to jump right into this. If you’re new to manifesting, I recommend reading You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero (then read her next book in the series You Are A Badass At Making Money). Both books really opened my eyes to manifesting and the power of the Universe/God/Whatever higher power you believe in being on your side while directly putting energy out for what you want. Both are amazing.

Anyways, like I was saying. On Dec 25, 2019, I did this writing exercise and got super detailed. I wrote out exactly what the best version of myself looks like 10 years in the future, the personality of the man I would be married to, how many kids I would have, what I was doing professionally, how much money I would be making, the things/hobbies I would love doing and more. I don’t want to give away all the goodies (plus is super private sorry🥺), but it’s worth noting that I ended that portion with “The most important thing is that she’s happy, healthy, and loves the people in her life. She is loved over and over every day. This is a beautiful start to 2030.” I then wrote out the 10 dreams I have and they are very specific also. For my #1 dream, I wrote “I have my dream condo in Seattle”. Not all my dreams are tangible, but ways of living or moving throughout the world – a few others are “I am love and fully loved”, “I’m madly in love and work at it every day”, “I’m an exceptional girlfriend/wife/coworker/family member.” To me, these are worth taking up dream space because they aren’t easy, but they’re important for the type of person I want to grow into and the person future me already is. ~yikes extra vulnerable, letting you in on my most close-to-heart dreams~ So these can be whatever you want them to be.

This is important! After writing out my 10 dreams, I moved on to writing a paragraph about my #1 goal. This is personal but this is exactly what I wrote for my paragraph: “I want to have a place of my own that feels like home. Owning property is financial freedom for me and independence is extremely important to me. I will never be in a place where I can’t leave a relationship or situation because of financial constraints. I will buy my $—,— Seattle condo with –% down, and $–,— extra spending money for months mortgage and furniture.”

When I tell you I got specific, I got reallly specific. There is literally one sentence, and it’s the last one, that captures the very specific things I was hoping to find in my home; down to the list price (which was shooting over half a million dollars.. cray) and the money I’d have left over that was intentionally for building up my home after purchase.

So this is written, I move on with celebrating the end of the year. It’s also important to note that I made a vision board in Sept 2019 that included I would make Seattle home and also purchase a place there (right in the middle of the board). Highly recommend making a vision board too and put it in a spot you can look at often – it’s beautiful to see dreams on a board every day! ✨

Let’s fast forward cause this is getting to be a super long blog post but it’s important and I’m just about to get to the best part so hope you’re still with me!!!!

So fast forward to Jan 2020. At this point, I’ve been talking about wanting to buy a place of my own (on my own) to my parents for at least 3 years (even was in contract for another place in the Bay Area a year or so prior and backed out after a few days cause it didn’t feel right – SO glad I did that and waited for the right one). So they knew I was serious about buying a home on my own, I had been saving hard core for this with a separate savings account specifically for this goal one day, had worked with a financial advisor the summer prior, etc. They knew I was all in, but it wasn’t until I told my parents I wanted to go house hunting in Seattle for a weekend + showed them a FULL-ON google document, detailing down to the dollar how much I was okay spending on this home + its furnishings for each room + links to exact items like the mattress in the master bedroom, the kitchen utensils, everything LOL. I know exactly what you’re thinking – 1) she’s freakin wild, maybe even a little crazy and 2) can I have access to that doc so I don’t have to make one? LOLOL As my friend would say – this is very type A of me and very project manager-like. What can I say, I’m in People Operations at one of the biggest tech companies in the world – I’ve learned a thing or two about making detailed plans and executing. 🤓

So moving on – My parents are like “oh dang, she’s SERIOUS serious” once they see this full on gdoc and we book the trip to Seattle for the weekend of Jan 23-26. We all took two days off of work for this extended house hunting weekend in Seattle. This trip was actually just intended to see what I liked and disliked in Seattle townhomes…while I was ready to buy, my stretch goal was to purchase before May 19th (my birthday) but I would’ve been happy if it happened at any point in 2020…so I didn’t go into this trip expecting to find a place I liked or even loved. For all I knew, I had all year for this goal so what’s the rush.

The trip is flawless, we check out at least 15 townhomes – BIG props to my Realtor Tom in Seattle (Let me know if you want to get the hookup with him – he’s AMAZING and I’m happy to refer you!!!!). The whole home buying process, which was also flawless, is for another blog post. But anyways, find my dream Seattle townhome on Jan 24th and put an offer on Jan 25th. My offer gets accepted on Jan 25th… EXACTLY 1 MONTH AFTER WRITING OUT MY #1 GOAL. ARE YOU FOLLOWING THIS????

Exactly 1 month after writing out this goal and was extremely specific, my offer is accepted. The offer that was accepted was even BETTER than what I manifested. Here’s the crazy part (comparing what I wrote in 2019 and what actually happened) – I was $950 off from the list price that was accepted, 2% off from the down payment %, and had $1,000 more than what I hoped would be for closing costs, a couple months mortgage, and furniture. And it was a townhome, not a condo (so yay to no HOAs). This townhome wasn’t even on our list of 20 townhomes to check out that weekend and it was a brand new build – meaning I’d be the very first person to purchase this home. We stumbled across this place because we were in the neighborhood. UNREAL. This was better than I could’ve imagined and the home checked off on my non-negotiables – windows with a lot of light and a place to entertain (rooftop) – things I didn’t know I needed in a place until that weekend house hunting.

God/The Universe are SO GOOD! So freakin good and I’m forever grateful! YOU GUYS! 💫🙌🏽

My dream townhome was out there and existed (barely cause it was brand new lol🙃), and I got really specific with my goals to attract it. And I closed on my first home on Feb 21, 2020. Within the first 2 months of 2020, I checked off my biggest goal of the year. And this happened 2 weeks or so before the pandemic… wow. I have more to write on the fact I ended up working from home the rest of the year, essentially allowing me to work from Seattle but I was (and still am) based in the Bay Area for work when I bought this place. 🤯

I’ve been able to manifest other beautiful things, people, moments into my life. There are countless stories to share but they will come in other blog posts 🙂 This just happens to be one of the most impactful stories that I had to share early on, plus it JUST happened this year.

It’s not WHAT I manifested that really matters in all this – IT IS THAT I WAS ABLE TO!

I share this out to say, what are you waiting for??? This shit (I mean, manifesting) works and it’s working for regular people like me! We are channeling our energy to attract what we want because it is already out there. WHAT YOU WANT ALREADY EXISTS! Write it down in a journal, make a vision board, write it on a post-it note. Tell your friends so they can use their energy for your good too.

I used to keep a lot to myself when it came to sharing about goals and dreams. Mostly out of fear that if they didn’t happen, no one else could be disappointed but me. But what I’ve learned about goals and putting energy out for them, it’s really special when the people you love are on the journey with you – through the highs and lows. You always have them rooting for you, praying for you (if that’s what you believe in), or just putting out good energy for you. That right there is worth any disappointment or setback, because it’s worth the joy when you get to celebrate with the people who have seen you through it all. That’s special and you deserve that joy.

So how big are you going to dream today for the year ahead? For the next 10 years? What are a few goals that will help you get there?

I’m rooting for you and for whatever is on your heart right now. Whatever you are hoping for. I’m putting energy out for you. 🖤✨🙌🏽💋

I don’t only manifest for myself, I also manifest for others. For the people closest to me and for strangers (whether they know it or not).

I manifest through writing, prayer, sitting with myself, gratitude, and dancing in the shower. I’ve practiced this so much that it is apart of my day every day, in unconscious ways.

I hope this post brought you something. At the very least, now you have some new books to check out. Or maybe even a little more hope that you’re deserving of the big and small things on your heart.

You.

Deserve.

It.

Love,

M💋

P.S. Thanks for being here. I’d love to hear about what you’ve been able to manifest lately!
